New community presentation teaches relaxation

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, Poet's Seat Health Care Center visited the Bernardston Senior Center to conduct their newest community presentation, entitled "Relaxation." The focus of the presentation is to teach the participants various proven relaxation techniques that can be done anywhere, at any time, to help control stress and improve overall mental & physical well-being.

The presentation is conducted by Poet's Seat Health Care Center's registered respiratory therapist Rani Silver and Rehabilitation Director Tammy Provencal. The two explain the different types of stress that affect people, as well as the impact it can have on your health and behavior. These techniques are very simple, require no special equipment and can be done by any person of any age.

The participants at the Bernardston Senior Center were taught three specific relaxation techniques intended to give one a sense of calm, peace and balance in their overall health. They were very open to trying all of these proven techniques, and were very excited to share their experience with the rest of the group. All participants received information regarding these techniques, so that they could continue to practice them whenever they choose.

If you are interested in having this free Relaxation Presentation at your community organization, please e-mail inquiries@pshcc.com. If you would like more information, call (413) 774-6318.

Poet's Seat Health Care Center now offering Palliative Care services

Poet's Seat Health Care Center is happy to announce, that beginning in December 2011, we are now offering Palliative Care services to all of our residents. Services can be ordered through pre-arranged consultations, and take place within our facility.

Palliative care is a special, intensive comfort care service, designed to improve quality of life by managing elevated levels of physical and/or emotional pain resulting from chronic medical conditions. A nurse practitioner is assigned to work directly with the resident and their families to discuss treatment options, develop a plan of care and coordinate all aspects of care services with other disciplines (which may include hospitals, pharmacies, and/or other health facilities).

The service is available to all residents of Poet's Seat Health Care Center, and is most appropriate for those suffering from chronic medical conditions and challenged with complex pain issues. The services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances.

At Poet's Seat Health Care Center, we are wholly committed to providing the best possible care to all of our residents, and we are pleased to be able to offer this special service. For more information, contact (413) 774-6318.

What People are Saying
About Us

"I do know how your facility got its name, but before a few weeks ago, I had no idea that you actually lived it. The wonderful care you took of my dad was profound. Your support for us, his family, was sublime. And your willingness to open your hearts and love him was truly poetic." - Cathy K.
